A drum rug is more than just a hip piece of carpeting for the style-conscious musician. The useful floor covering solves several important tasks at once.
A rug should be part of your equipment if you have neighbors. Whether you like them or not.
Outside of your studio or rehearsal space, carpet helps you as a familiar base on unfamiliar floors.
On a carpet, you can mark your personal drum arrangement with tape. Time saving and mega practical when setting up.

What is impact sound?
The kinetic energy you emit when playing drums on edrum pads, cymbals, and drums doesn't just flow out of your drum kit as a sound wave or through your trigger pads or microphones as a signal.
Purely mechanically, it also travels as an impulse through the suspensions of the drums and cymbals and down through all the hardware into the floor on which everything stands. This is the so-called impact or structure-borne sound.
It makes your cymbal stand resonate slightly when you kick the bass drum. And that your snare carpet vibrates when you hit the toms.
Unwanted vibrations and poor overall sound
The hardware and the floor are always vibrating. That can be why your set sounds clean on the rehearsal room floor, but completely different on the board stage in the pub. And often not even as good.
It's hard to get a handle on impact sound frequencies. They simply resonate. The result is often a poor overall sound. And that's without a sound engineer!
Stop noise and impact sound with E-drums.
With electric drums, the only sounds you hear as an outsider are the impact sounds. These are also transmitted as structure-borne sound.
That's why a good drum carpet is important for E-drums. It not only reduces the transmission of the impact noise to the neighbors. It also prevents the unwanted response of particularly sensitive triggers on the set.

A soft surface captures energy and absorbs impact and structure-borne sound. So a carpet is ideal for this purpose.
In addition to degraded sound in the room, a carpet also solves the problem with the neighbor who doesn't like your music. With carpet, simply less of it reaches him.
It should be sufficiently firm and dense so that the trim is not compressed by the weight of the set. That would reduce the damping. A loose flokati is therefore just as unsuitable as a simple floor covering from the leftover ramp from the hardware store.
Ideal is a densely woven oriental carpet. But oriental carpets are either really expensive or not real. In the worst case, both.

The ultimate drum carpet
An ideal blend of 2mm thick non-slip rubber mat and 4mm high sound-absorbing carpet is offered by the DRUMnBASE drum rugs in two different sizes.
