The original SONOR Signature Series was introduced at the Frankfurt Musikmesse in 1980. It was the result of extensive scientific research commissioned by SONOR to build the most sonically and technically advanced high-end drum kit of its time. The extremely deep and heavy 10.5 mm beechwood shells were designed to allow the drumheads to resonate as freely as possible. The result is a pure sound with maximum projection. The Signature became the benchmark against which all other high-end drums were measured from that point onward.

This 150th Anniversary Signature Series Shell Set is more than just a reissue of the original from the 1980s. It is a tribute that combines a replica of the Signature Series shell with modern hardware features, blending tradition with innovation.

To faithfully reproduce the iconic Signature Series shells, 13 layers of selected German beech veneers are cross-laminated. As in the original, genuine Bubinga is used for the inner and outer plies. The stunning grain, varying color tones, and dark streaks of the Bubinga Pommelé (Guibourtia demeusii) used for these instruments give them even greater visual depth.

All drum hardware is plated in 24-karat gold to complement the deep, rich brown color of the veneer and deliver the ultimate luxury experience. Finally, each drum is fitted with an individually numbered badge, underscoring the uniqueness of every 150th Anniversary Signature Series Shell Set.

The 150th Anniversary Signature Series Shell Sets are limited to 75 units worldwide. Of these, 25 are produced in the "Heritage" configuration with authentic Signature Series shell depths, while the remaining 50 feature shallower, more modern shell depths.
