With the artist series, ATV defines the upper class of its E-cymbals. Original hi-hat size
The size of this E-Hi-Hiat is 14". It´s the diameter of an acoustic hi-hat. As an acoustic drummer, this "real" size accommodates you to the maximum in playing technique. You can play your figures, paradiddles and beats exactly the same as on conventional acoustic hi-hats.
360° playable with very good signal processing
The artist Cymbals can be played on the entire surface in the circumference of 360°. You can really play them the way you want. They are very sensitive to your hits and strokes and the dynamic is breathtakingly real
Very fine opening detection
A sensor in the bottom of the hi-hat precisely detects the distance between your bottom and top cymbal. From this degree of opening, your module can generate the sound in fine nuances between "closed" and "open"
It feels - nearly - like metal!
The haptic feel of the stroke and rebound is very close to an acoustic cymbal. The cup and the bow react tangibly direct, when played with the tip of the stick. The stroke with the shaft of your stick on the cymbal rim is rather smooth. This is due to the robust Silicone rubber surface, which provides pure authenticity, especially at the edge.
Hi-hat top can also be used as a crash or ride!
If you want to play a different hi-hat, you can also use the top of this ATV hi-hat as a conventional cymbal. It is easily possible to assign any other sample sound imaginable to this Cymbal. Put on a cymbal holder it can be used as splash, crash, FX, china and even (with the appropriate sound module) as a ride cymbal with a playable cup. Each artist cymbal has all the features of the complete series.
Took the plunge because my VH12 had problems. Delivery went ok… connecting the hihat was simple.. I use it with a TD20 Roland module as part of my Pearl triggered kit. Took some fiddling with trigger settings.. Needed to use VH11 as trigger - make sure to use CC range at full 127 level.. Trigger sensitivity at 14 - 18 or so and an edge setting of 0.6 seems to work for me. Sensitivity is great and I could threshold and settings like masking to lowest.. No double triggering whatsoever. I also got the rubber noise reduction solution from Drum-tec which seems to work fine. In total I guess this is a bit noisier than the VH12 but I am happy to have a great working hihat again that is really nice to play!

Ich habe es gewagt und bin das Risiko eingegangen diese Becken mit dem Roland TD-12 Modul zu kombinieren. Als Ausgangspunkt habe ich die Voreinstellungen von der VH-12 Hihat genommen. Nach ein wenig tuning der Einstellungen, habe ich eine Hihat die wesentlich besser triggert als meine Alte, dennoch sehr gute VH-11. Ich bereue den Kauf überhaupt nicht. Also für alle die noch ein altes TD-12 Modul verwenden, kann ich hier mit reinstem Gewissen eine klare Kaufempfehlung abgeben. Und ich bin sehr penibel, da ich 2 Jahrzehnte lang nur Akustiksets gespielt habe und meine Ansprüche sehr hoch sind.Einzig für die Lautstärke gibt es einen Punktabzug. Über die Haltbarkeit kann ich noch nicht viel sagen.

Derzeit beste Hi-hat
Derzeit m.E. die beste elektronische Hi-hat. Lieferung und Service von drum-sec wie immer tadellos!
Ich betreibe die ATV Hi-hat an einem TD-20X, der allerdings nur noch als Trigger-zu-MIDI-Übersetzer fungiert. Die Sounderzeugung übernimmt Superior Drummer 3, das sehr gute Hi-Hat-Einstellungsmöglichkeiten und reale Sounds bietet.
An dieser Stelle noch einige Tipps, die vielleicht beim Umgang mit dieser Hi-hat weiterhelfen:
Dämpfung. Ich habe an der Unterseite der Hi-hat einige sehr dünne Schaumstoffaufkleber angebracht. Das Ergebnis ist eine leise Hi-hat, die nicht mehr scheppert. Die Funktionsweise wird dadurch nicht beeinflusst.
3-Way-Trigger. Diese Hi-hat hat als Besonderheit neben dem Edge- auch noch einen Bell-Trigger und dafür einen separaten Ausgang. Das Problem ist nur, dass die am Markt befindlichen Module damit nicht ohne weiteres umgehen können, da dieses Feature i.d.R. nur einem einzigen Ride-Becken vorbehalten ist. Mit einem Trick bekommt man dies aber trotzdem ans Laufen.
Beide Ausgänge sind Stereo-Trigger, die jeder für sich den "Bow" triggern (also die normale Spielfläche), der ja auch am empfindlichsten ist. Der "Edge"-Ausgang triggert zusätzlich die Kante und der "Cup"-Ausgang zusätzlich die Glocke, im Roland-Modul jeweils als "Rim". Man kann also den einen oder den anderen Ausgang am Hi-hat-Eingang anschliessen und hat dann entweder Bow+Edge oder Bow+Cup. Um alle drei gleichzeitig zu erhalten, muss man einen AUX-Eingang nutzen. Dann wird allerdings der "Bow" immer doppelt getriggert. Um das zu verhindern, muss man modulspezifisch dafür sorgen, dass dies in einem der Eingänge unterdrückt wird. Ich habe z.B. "Edge" an einem AUX-Eingang und generiere keine MIDI-Note für den "Bow", der dort als "Head" ankommt. Dadurch kommt nur noch der i.d.R. etwas lautere Kantenschlag von diesem AUX, für den es akustisch keine große Rolle spielt, dass gleichzeitig noch der "Bow" aus dem Hi-Hat-Eingang erklingt.
Langfristig wäre es natürlich wünschenswert, dass die Module der Hersteller erstens mehr Eingänge erhielten und diese dann auch wahlweise mit der 3-Way-Logik kombiniert werden könnten.

Very good but I was expecting more
I am playing the ATV artist hi-hat 14'' with a Roland td 25 module since few days now. The hi-hat is well built and playability is similar to a real hi-hat cymbal. In terms of sound I can say is very good but I was expecting something more considering the price ( I had a VH 11 before). It took several days to get the sound I wanted playing with trigger settings and still not perfect. Surprised that ATV do not provide instructions for trigger settings and calibration with the main modules (I had to push sensitivity very high and calibration is not so easy like in VH 11).Another issue is the noise, when you play your e-drum with headphones, noise is so loud that is difficult to hear the hi-hat sound. In conclusion, very good but not excellent.

Beste E- Hihat ever!!
Ich hatte 2Box, Roland VH11, VH13 und Jobeky Realfeel (Brass) Hihat Pads aber die ATV Pads und vor allem die Becken und Hihats triggern sehr gut und lassen sich auch hervorragend spielen. Die Hihat kann man durch eine einfache Maßnahme sehr viel leiser machen. Habe dazu ein Video gemacht: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kibQ5eDrYNo Die in einigen Foren berichteten Edge-Trigger Probleme betrafen nur die erste Serie. Inzwischen gab es eine Hardwarerevision, die das Problem nicht mehr hat. Drumtec und ATV waren sehr kulant beim Umtausch!

Gutes, aber auch teures Hihat Pad. Verwende es an einem mimic pro, funktioniert prima. Allerdings finde ich das Spielgeräusch etwas störend. Das ist bei Roland und Yamaha Hihat-Pads deutlich besser! Auf Grund des hohen Anschaffungspreises und dem Spielgeräusch gibt es bei mir 2 Punkte Abzug!
