The Mapex Saturn VI Cobalt Burst is a professional shell set featuring hybrid birch/walnut shells and Design Lab features. Innovative features from the Mapex Design Lab series include SONIClear™ Bearing Edges, Static 90° Floor Tom Legs, Air Flow Venting and Isolation Gaskets.

The Mapex Saturn Series combines its proven formula with unique innovations. The elaborate lacquer finish, combined with chrome hardware, Remo drumheads and Power Hoops, creates a perfectly coordinated overall look for semi-professional and professional drummers.

Design Lab Features on the Mapex Saturn

The Mapex Saturn Series features several innovative technologies from the Mapex Design Lab series. The three SAS Static 90° Floor Tom Legs provide longer sustain by counteracting the frequency loss that can occur with conventional angled floor tom legs.

The Sonic Pedestal Feet feature specially designed rubber feet that maximize vibration transfer and shell resonance. In addition, the floor tom mounts are equipped with Isolation Gaskets, which reduce pressure on the shell and minimize vibration loss.

Air Flow Venting

Air Flow Venting is designed to provide optimal air balance inside the shell. Extensive testing and experience have been used to determine the ideal positioning (Nodal Line) and number of air vents for each specific drum shell.

Hybrid Birch/Walnut Shells: Mapex Saturn VI Shell Set

Like their predecessors, the current Saturn shells feature 6/8-ply hybrid construction made from birch and walnut. This results in a shell thickness of 6 mm for the toms and floor toms and 8 mm for the bass drum.

The toms are fitted with Remo Clear Emperor drumheads, while the bass drum features a Remo Powerstroke 3 head. Naturally, all shells continue to feature the proven Mapex SONIClear™ Bearing Edge.

The rounded outer profile makes tuning easier and supports a lower pitch by allowing the batter head to make better contact with the bearing edge. The finish provides a premium appearance, particularly in combination with the chrome Locking B Lugs.
