drum-tec 66Samus Signature 13" x 7" Snare Drum
The 66Samus Signature Snare Drum relies on the two woods most commonly used in drum construction: birch and maple -- and for good reason! Both woods bring their own tonal characteristics, which are ideally combined in this snare through a targeted layering process.
Birch is a medium-weight, strong, and elastic wood, valued for its durability and controlled sound. Especially in studio situations, but also in other applications, it offers precise response and focused projection.
Maple, on the other hand, is lighter than birch but still has good strength and elasticity. Its straight, compact grain enables balanced resonance across a wide frequency spectrum. This versatility makes it suitable for a variety of musical styles, from jazz to metal.
The snare features a symmetrical construction of two layers of maple, two layers of birch, and another two layers of maple. This combination unites the directness and control of birch with the openness and musical depth of maple. The result is a sound that is both tight and defined, yet dynamic and versatile -- with precise snare response, balanced tonal development, and powerful rimshots thanks to die-cast hoops.
The seventh, outermost layer of Mappa Burl gives the snare a distinctive grain pattern, which is particularly emphasized by the high-gloss finish.
